Should I get a 10mm -> .40 S&W conversion barrel?

I just got a gen 4 glock 20. This will be my trail gun for hiking/camping. Is that a good idea to get a 10mm to .40 S&W conversion barrel for it so that I can shoot less expensive .40 S&W ammo in the range? Your thoughts?

Getting a new .40 caliber gun does not help me getting used to the new Glock. (I only have two CZs. This is the first Glock I own) Plus, it's more expensive.

To keep the cost low while still have reasonable amount practice with the gun, I will have to either get a conversion barrel to shoot 40 S&W or start reloading. I am leaning toward the former now but want to see what you guys think.

我的G20 Gen3配了只40SW管，随时切换口径，确实方便，弹夹直接通用。

Sounds like a great idea, though you should train with what you will use.

For recreational shooting, cheaper ammo is the way to go.

But the overall length is differ by 32-28.8=3.2 mm  ...

when slide moves back, it goes all the way beyond the rear end of the mag well, when it pushes forward, it pushes all the way beyond the tip end, so anything in between will be fed into the chamber. The 40SW barrel's chamber's space is shorter than factory 10mm, and that's all that matters.

Actually there are people brag that they shoot 40SW directly in their G20 and never had any issues (not encouraged to try this though).

Understood this.  My only question is, will longer 10 mm cartridge fit into the magazine for the shorter 40sw?

Nope. that's why you need to use G20 mag for the .40SW ammo, not the mag for G22.
G20 and G22 mags are not interchangeable.
