If your goal is practice for IDPA/USPSA, don't use airsoft or other guns, use your competition gun (or an exact backup) and practice dry fire at home. I strongly recommend Ben Stoeger's dry fire book, or @Vince's link. They teach you how to dry fire with your comp gun. Ben won nats champ with beretta elite II, which is da/sa, and he used it for dry fire too.
