Radcliff displayed cool under pressure and impeccable technique here.
1. Upon observing the goblin's drawn weapon, he moved to conceal his own draw behind one of the other threatened employees. This was his best single move, exploiting the fact that the goblin had to divide his attention among three people.
2. He shot first. If someone has a gun drawn on you, you'd damned well better shoot first if you want to live.
3. He aimed, properly, for center of mass. I saw three shots, all hits. Correct aim at that range is trivial under range conditions but takes calm and courage in an actual combat situation.
4. He kept shooting until the goblin was down. And a good thing, too; I saw the goblin attempt to return fire after the first hit on him, only to be stopped by the second shot.
Don Radcliff saved at least three lives. The goblin died of his injuries and will therefore neither commit another armed robbery nor be jailed at taxpayer expense. Best possible outcome. |
