All these tests against rigid barrier are similar to one vehicle hitting an identical vehicle (itself), thus performance is normalized by the mass of the vehicle. However at the end of the day, mass trumps many other factors in vehicle-vehicle collision. A heavier vehicle most likely will win, according to Newton's laws. A pickup with "Marginal" ratings is likely to fair pretty well in a crash with a small car with "Good" ratings, transferring more energy to the low mass vehicle. Even IIHS admitts that:

Man, it's like an arms race. Drive the heaviest car/truck you can afford to drive.
